A Rochester city councilor is facing calls for his resignation after being accused of sexually abusing boys two decades ago.
Foster's Daily Democrat reported last week that two men said Doug Lachance abused them when they were teenagers and he was Rochester's mayor. He was also a state legislator and local church leader at the time.
Foster's reported that city and county police have reopened an investigation into the allegations.
A fellow Rochester city councilor, Palana Belken, tells NHPR that Lachance told the city’s mayor Monday that he intended to resign. Lachance did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
Belken and at least one other councilor called for his resignation this weekend because of the abuse accusations.
