Democrats Stump Before N.H. Unions on Labor Day

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders addresses a crowd of union members in Manchester on Labor Day.

Democratic presidential candidates and their surrogates lined up to address union members at the annual AFL-CIO Labor Day breakfast.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders gave a rowdy keynote address to union members at a Greek Orthodox Church in Manchester. Sanders spoke about his opposition to international trade deals like NAFTA, as well as his long support for union workers - including during last year’s strike against FairPoint Communications.

"The reason that people are working longer hours and in some cases not making enough money to feed their kids is that for many Americans wages in this country are just too damn low," Sanders told the crowd.

Former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee also spoke, while representatives for Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley read written statements.
