How North Country Legislators Voted on Partial-Birth Aborton Veto

North Country representatives overwhelmingly voted on Wednesday to override Gov. Lynch’s veto of a bill banning partial-birth abortions.

As NHPR reportedLynch vetoed the bill saying it was unnecessary because such procedures are already prohibited under federal law.

The governor also expressed concern about a provision that would require a second opinion before a woman could receive the procedure even if her life were threatened by the pregnancy.

The vote in the Senate was 18 – 5 with Sen. John Gallus, a Republican from Berlin, voting with the majority.

The vote in the House was 240 in favor of overriding the veto and 118 against.

* Duffy Daugherty (Republican) of Colebrook.

* Stephanie Eaton (Republican) of Littleton

* Edmond Gionet (Republican) of Lincoln.

* William Remick (Republican) of Lancaster

* Herb Richardson (Republican) of Lancaster

* Gregory Sorg (Republican) of Easton.

* Larry Rappaport (Republican) of Colebrook.

* John Tholl (Republican) of Whitefield

* Marc Tremblay (Republican) of Berlin

Here are the North Country reps who voted against overriding the veto:

* Gary Coulombe (Democrat) of Berlin

* Evalyn Merrick (Democrat) of Lancaster

* Kathleen Taylor (Democrat) of Franconia

* Robert Theberge (Democrat) of Berlin

* Yvonne Thomas (Democrat) of Berlin

Here are the North Country reps excused from voting:

* William Hatch (Democrat) of Gorham
