Looking to Buy a College Campus? There's One for Sale in Nashua
The campus of the former Daniel Webster College in Nashua will be auctioned off this fall. The former flight school shut down in May for financial reasons and has been vacant since.
The 53-acre campus consists of 13 buildings including classrooms, dorms, a gymnasium, auditorium and an airplane hangar.
The property is assessed at roughly $24 million and will be auctioned off October 23, with bids closing the week prior.
The property’s realtor Emilio Amendola says he's received about 100 calls from interested buyers.
“There have been some churches that have had an interest, there’s been some educational facilities that have an interest, some government agencies interested, developers, some people haven’t told us what they plan to do,” Amendola said with a laugh.
The city of Nashua may be one of those bidders. Alderman Mark Cookson is proposing the city look into buying the property and use it for educational space as well as a performing arts center.
“I think there are a lot of priorities the city has and that we just need to explore the feasibility of whether it would be advantageous for the city to purchase it,” Cookson said.
Cookson plans to introduce this proposal at the Sept. 12aldermen meeting.
