Celebrate 91 Years of the Rockingham Ballroom with the Bedford Big Band!

The Rockingham Ballroom is turning 91, and we’re marking the occasion with the return of crowd favorite Bedford Big Band. This powerhouse 15-piece ensemble brings the magic of swing, pop, funk, and Latin classics to life with soaring vocals, a blazing horn section, and a rhythm that keeps the floor moving all night.

Kick off the evening with free beginner East Coast Swing lessons from the Krystal Ballroom Dance Studio of Hampton Falls, then dance the night away to timeless hits from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and beyond. Whether you’re stepping out for the first time or soaking in the lush harmonies, it’s a celebration of music, memories, and movement you won’t forget.

You can bring your beverage of choice (BYOB) and we provide a healthy light menu to snack on, for purchase. Seltzers, sodas and mixers also available. (No “bar” tab.) We have both cafe and lounge seating, and a game room. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Looking for a venue for your next event? The Rockingham Ballroom is available for Private Parties, Events, Classes, and Weddings. Our event center is 8,500 sq. feet. The 4000 square foot floating wood floor is the only such dance floor in New England. Located in Newmarket, NH and only 15 minutes from Portsmouth, Exeter, or Durham.

Our anatomy systems and human emotions have had a parallel for eons and from deeper research and dimensional techniques Human Door was cast into the world.”

Nick Paradis (b. 1987, Providence RI) is a New England based artist specializing in murals, custom commission art, and exhibitions and gallery events. Graduating from New England College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in art and creative writing, he has worked in printing for over a decade. He is active in the community, continues to write poetry and flourishes with artistic endeavors throughout the year.

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (Forest Society) invites outdoor enthusiasts across the state to take part in the 2025 Five Hikes Challenge, running from August 30 through October 31.

This year’s theme, “Hike with Heart,” celebrates the connections people form with New Hampshire’s forests and the shared responsibility to care for them. Participants select five hikes from a list of more than 30 Forest Society destinations statewide, ranging from quiet woodlands to scenic summits.

Upon registering, participants will receive printed trail guides, interpretive materials, and the official Five Hikes Challenge sticker. The Forest Society Mobile App (powered by OuterSpatial) offers additional tools, including maps, photo sharing, check-ins, and guided group hike opportunities.

By hiking with heart, participants are encouraged to:
• Walk the land, share the love by posting photos and tagging @ForestSociety with #5HikesChallenge.
• Demonstrate thoughtful stewardship by following the Wildly Responsible principles: plan, pack, and prepare; care for others; protect and preserve; and go have fun.
• Inspire belonging by inviting friends, family, or neighbors to join the challenge and feel connected to a growing community that cares for the land.

“The Five Hikes Challenge is about more than reaching a destination — it’s about building connections,” said Carrie Deegan, vice president for recreation management and public engagement at the Forest Society. “When people hike with heart, they discover new trails, share those experiences with others, and help strengthen a statewide community that values and protects our forests.”
