Tour guide Tom Kaufhold will take you through Portsmouth for this engaging 90-minute tour. You will pass by many beautiful historic sites and learn some important facts about Portsmouth LGBTQ+ people, places and events, including; how UNH and the NH Supreme Court impacted Portsmouth’s LGBTQ+ community; where the first gay and women’s bars were in Portsmouth; the restaurant credited with starting Portsmouth’s restaurant renaissance; and the church that supported two LGBTQ+ organizations for decades.

Tours are $15 for members, $20 for non-members, $15 for discounted groups (Children 5-18, Seniors 62+, Students, Portsmouth Residents), and free for children 5 and under.

All tours depart from Portsmouth Historical Society, 10 Middle Street, Portsmouth NH.

Nashville-Style Songwriter Round Comes to Riley’s Place in Milford, NH

MILFORD, NH — A Nashville-style songwriter round is coming to Riley’s Place in Milford, NH, bringing an evening of stripped-down performances, original songs, and the kind of storytelling usually reserved for small listening rooms off Music Row.

White Horse Round is a new weekly event created and hosted by Charlie Chronopoulos every Sunday beginning at 5:00 PM.

The one-hour round will feature songwriters trading songs and stories in an intimate acoustic format built around conversation and live performance. The White Horse Round highlights the raw side of songwriting — no full band, no heavy production, just writers and their songs.

The evening will close with a featured set from host Charlie Chronopoulos, whose live performances blend Americana, rock, and singer-songwriter influences with an easy connection to the room.

Music lovers and musicians are welcomed to be part of this community. The Riley’s Place staff will welcome you with no cover, a great menu, and outdoor patio.

3rd annual golf tournament to benefit Freedom Reins Therapeutic Riding Center in Surry, NH. Freedom Reins provides therapeutic riding lessons to participants with disabilities. Scholarships are available for veterans and low income families.

The Grit to Grow Summit is a high‑energy, hands‑on event for New Hampshire teens who are thinking about what comes next after high school. This event is designed by the UNH Extension Grit to Grow Collaborative, in partnership with the Governor’s Task Force on Bring Back the Trades.

Teens will connect directly with industry leaders, educators, and peers to explore career pathways, build real‑world skills, and speak up about what they want and need from future employers.

Through dynamic workshops, facilitated listening sessions, and a Career & Education Expo, participants will gain the tools and confidence to start writing their own roadmap forward.

Along the way, teens will enjoy the natural beauty of summer in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, with lakeside social time along Lake Winnipesaukee at the Resort at Mill Falls. All two‑day Summit participants will also enjoy an exclusive chartered dinner cruise aboard the historic M/S Mount Washington.

Grit to Grow is about more than learning about jobs.

Teens will leave with:

Clearer direction and greater confidence in talking about their future
Real connections they can follow up with
The knowledge that there is more than one “right” path forward
Reassurance that they don’t have to figure it all out alone

Who can attend: Students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 (you don’t need to be a 4-H member to attend! All are welcome.)

Have you thought about using words in your handmade books, or sending cards
with hand written messages or using words in your art...
This class requires no previous artistic skills and is a great way to learn about an exciting art field
Students will be introduced to several additional styles of calligraphy—Copperplate, Blackletter, Illuminated Letters and exciting contemporary work—all of which can be combined with Italic.

The Italic font will be learned using a broad edge fountain pen
at a pace that allows students to gain confidence.
Lower and upper case letters, numbers and punctuation are studied and incorporated into finished layouts.

On the night of September 19, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill drove through New Hampshire’s White Mountains on their way back to Portsmouth from their honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls and Montreal. On Route 3, near Franconia, they saw a light in the sky.

Their world, and ours, was never the same again.

While the Hills rose to fame due to their tale of alien abduction and subsequent influence on pop culture, the Hills’ impact reaches far beyond the extraordinary events of that night. As Portsmouth residents, civil rights activists, and community leaders, Betty and Barney Hill were part of a powerful and often overlooked chapter in local and national history.

Admission to the exhibition is $10 general admission, $5 discounted admission (children 5-18, seniors over 62, students, and Portsmouth residents), and FREE for members. Tickets are purchased on site.

In this class you can expect to do movement with breath along with some guided relaxation and gratitude practice. No experience is necessary for these accessible classes. Wear clothing that is comfortable to move in.

If you are wondering, "Do I qualify as a veteran?" then our question for you is simply "Have you ever served in the US armed forces?" If you have served, you qualify. It does not matter in what capacity.

Free Yoga for Veterans was founded by Nancy Garnhart. Nancy is a highly trained yoga teacher who also holds certification in Mindful Yoga Therapy (MYT), a powerful protocol for working with veterans living with PTSD. Veterans who have attended Nancy’s FYFV classes in the past have discovered the amazing changes regular participation in these classes can bring. Yoga in Action is pleased to have Nancy join our team as the director of Free Yoga for Veterans.
