5 Things (Plus) To Do This Weekend in New Hampshire

Bid adieu to August—and summer—with a Labor Day holiday weekend full of celebration and fun. Throw in some live music, good food, and friends while you're at it. Here are 5 things to do in New Hampshire, plus a little extra for inspiration.

Find more things to do on the NHPR's community calendar - and submit your own events here.

  1. Loading Dock Concert Series: 3S Artspace in Portsmouth holds this music series every Friday in summer, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (suggested donation). See 3S Artspace for more information on Friday night's show, featuring People Like You, a "free-wheelin' freak fok traveling circus," as Seacoast music reviewer Chris Hislop describes them. What's he talking about? Scroll down to listen to their video and hear for yourself.
  2. Hopkinton Fair: The Labor Day weekend continues in Hopkinton, with entertainment, a rodeo, animals galore, and a mid-way that will satisfy your culinary cravings.
  3. Lancaster Fair: It's billed as the largest fun-filled family event in the Great North Woods, and it's 146 years in the running.
  4. There's Something Up There? The Exeter UFO Festivalis Saturday, Sept. 1, and Sunday, Sept. 2. This is held in Exeter because of the famous 1965 incident in which a UFO was reported overhead. Lectures are held at the historic Exeter Town Hall.
  5. Fisher Cats: The N.H. Fisher Cats have their final regular season homestand this weekend. Hartford is in Manchester for games Friday through Monday. And there are fireworks Saturday night at 7:05.
