N.H. House Votes to Repeal Medicaid Work Requirement

N.H. State House

Democrats in the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted Wednesday to repeal the state's work requirement for people who receive health insurance through expanded Medicaid.

The work requirement was struck down by a federal judge last summer and remains in legal limbo as the state appeals the ruling.

If it had gone into effect, it could have forced as many as 17,000 people off the Medicaid rolls in New Hampshire.

House Republicans issued a statement saying they remain committed to the policy. And Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, supports the work requirement.
