German Offshore Wind Developer Joins N.H. Renewable Energy Group

BOEM

The German wind developer EnBW has joined New Hampshire's renewable energy trade group.

The major offshore wind company joining Clean Energy New Hampshire represents something new for the state.

Advocates for renewable energy say New Hampshire can and should capitalize on the Gulf of Maine's wind energy potential.

Some have suggested Portsmouth or the state port at Pease International Tradeport could host supply businesses that would make wind components.

Governor Chris Sununu has also requested a federal task force to study the potential for wind energy leasing off New Hampshire's coast.

New Hampshire is one of the last East Coast states to take that step – which marks the beginning of the possible development process.
