The Concord School Board is holding a meeting Monday, July 8, to gather public input on its policies on sexual harassment, abuse, and community safety.
The meeting comes after revelations the district mishandled allegations against Howie Leung, a former special ed teacher, who is now facing charges of raping a former Concord student.
The school board is working with an investigator whose report on the district's actions is due later this month.
In the meantime, the school board is inviting community members to help update its policies on conduct Monday night at 5:30 at the Concord district office.
"The meeting is meant to figure out how we as a district can really live and breath these policies in a way that elevates student safety," says Jennifer Patterson, board president.
"We've heard from many members of the community and we as board members understand the magnitude of concerns they have about the safety of their children, and what steps the district can take to make sure that reports - whether involving staff or students - are responded to in a manner that puts student safety first."
