Democrat Kelley To Challenge Woodburn In Write-in Campaign

A North Country Democrat is mounting a write-in campaign to challenge State Senator Jeff Woodburn, who is seeking reelection as he faces multiple misdemeanor domestic violence and assault changes.

Kathleen Kelley says her positions on issues don't differ much from Woodburn, and that if elected she'd fight for more resources for the North Country -- for schools, for health care and to improve economic opportunity. Kelley says Senate District 1 needs representation that is beyond reproach.

"We are weak unless we put forth a candidate who is respected in the community, who is able to lead, who is able to represent us over the next two years without question. You know, what message does thsi send if we dont take a stand."

Kelley lives in Randolph; her family runs the White Mountain Lumber Company. She's active in North Country economic development groups, and has served on the Randolph School board and the board of the Randolph Mountain Club.
