L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti talks with Joyce Craig supporters at campaign headquarters in Manchester.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti urged Manchester residents Monday  to vote for Democratic mayoral candidate Joyce Craig.

The primary will be held on September 19th, with the general election in November.

At Consuelo's Taqueria in downtown Manchester, Garcetti told a crowd of young Democrats that, while much of the political attention is on Washington these days, races like the one for Manchester mayor this year are among the most important.

And when it comes to leading the state’s largest city, Garcetti said, Joyce Craig is the right person for the job.

“Joyce Craig with her background, with her service here in this city hall already – doesn’t start the job with a bunch of feelings, or a bunch of tweets, or a bunch of ideology – she comes with that practical knowledge of how to get the job done," Garcetti said.

Joyce is a former Manchester alderman who grew up in the city. She says Manchester deserves a new leader. Craig is running against fourth term Mayor Ted Gatsas. She lost to him by 64 votes in the last mayoral election.
