CHILDREN’S THEATRE SERIES: HANSEL & GRETEL, LANCASTER
Thursday June 30 9:30 AM The Rialto Theatre, Main Street, free, presented by Jean’s Playhouse IMPACT Children’s Theatre company. IMPACT stands for Imagination and Music, Professional Artistry in Children’s Theatre. The company tours eight original 45-minute musicals around NH every summer. Shows are based on folk and fairy tales from many cultures adapted for today’s audiences of all ages with a taste of pop culture references and tongue-in-cheek humor thrown in for older children and parents. COOL NIGHTS JAZZ BAND CONCERT, LITTLETON
Thursday June 30 3:00 PM Littleton Community Center lawn, 123 Main Street. Made up of students ranging in age from 13 - 18, these young people play jazz, rock, swing, Latin and ballads. The group of 23 musicians includes expected instruments as well as flute, marimba, timpani and violins. Rain location is the Littleton Opera House. CELTIC MUSIC CONCERT BY ISLAY MIST CEILIDH, LANCASTER
Thursday June 30 7:00 PM Great Room of Summit Lodge, Weeks State Park on the east side of Route 3 approx. 2 miles south of Lancaster. The Islay Mist Céilidh is a group of amateur musicians from Northern New Hampshire who play traditional Celtic music from Scotland, Ireland and maritime Canada. FRANCONIA COLOR SCRAMBLE 5K
Saturday July 2 7:30 - 8:00 AM registration at the gazebo on the Dow, 8:30 AM start. Run or walk around a scenic Franconia loop, starting on Main Street, south to Plantation Road, to Route 18 north and back to Dow Park. Entry fee adults $30, U12 $10 with a registered adult, $20 each if you register in a group of 5 or more. Free Tshirts to first 75 to register. SMALL GROUP TOURS OF DOW CLOCK TOWER, FRANCONIA
Saturday July 2 10:00 AM - Noon. As part of Old Home Day, the Dow Academy will host an open house and small group tours of the clock tower. Children will be able to pull a rope to ring the bell. Group tours will be on the half hour between 10 a.m. and noon. Registration will be at the front of the Dow Academy in the morning. 

PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION BENEFITS PETS FOR PATRIOTS, LITTLETON
Saturday & Sunday July 2 & 3 10:00 AM and on at Remich Park, Oak Hill Road. Hosted by the First United Methodist Church and other aread churches and businesses. The two-day event is free but tickets to see the band are $5 per person. All proceeds go to a group that sponsors the adoption of pets by veterans. Events include a pet parade, blessing of the pets, food vendors, tables of vendors for fundraising, children's games and activities. Music includes the band, 3 Shades of Blue, seen on America's Got Talent, concert is 7:00 PM on July 2. T-shirts with sponsors listed will be available for purchase. WHIPPLE FIELD NATURE WALK
Wednesday July 6 3:00-6:00 PM Meet at the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust office, 729 Main Street, Franconia. Series of five walks every other Wednesday starting July 6. Group will carpool to a different site each week. Led by ACT’s Director of Education & Outreach Liz Wyman and volunteer Linda Moore, who will teach participants about plants and wildlife. Walks will be at a slow to moderate pace with stops to observe and enjoy nature. Recommended gear includes long pants, boots or sneakers that can get dirty, a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and a water bottle. LITTLETON PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER AUTHOR SERIES
Wednesday July 6 at 6:30 PM McLure Program Room, Littleton Public Library, Main Street. Speaker is Richard Adams Carey, author of the bestselling 2015 book, In the Evil Day: Violence Comes to One Small Town. Carey’s program will focus on the subject of his gripping book, that being the tragic events surrounding the August 1997 killing rampage by Carl Drega in Colebrook, New Hampshire.
