Consumer Confidence, While Still High, Dips in N.H. in Latest Poll

Source: BIA Report on Consumer Confidence

New Hampshire residents continue to forecast good times ahead for the state's economy.

A new report from the Business and Industry Association, which is based on polling done by the UNH Survey Center, finds that 58% of residents are optimistic about how the New Hampshire economy will perform during the next twelve months. That’s nine points lower than February’s measure, however, which was a 15-year high.

Of note in the report is a continued partisan divide on confidence. Eighty-six percent of respondents who identify as Republican are optimistic about the state’s economy, while just 36% of Democrats share those rosy views.

A similar split in outlook was observed during the Obama presidency.
