White House Task Force Taps UNH For Sexual Assault Prevention Program

The University of New Hampshire has been asked to help a White House task force end sexual assault on college campuses.

A UNH program called Prevention Innovations was identified in a report to help protect students. The program is designing a training program in cooperation with campus-based practitioners around the country.

Sharyn Potter, associate professor of sociology and co-director of Prevention Innovations, is leading the research. She says it will look at how presenting the same information using different delivery methods —online, in a class, via the web — and how it impacts students

The university's Bringing in the Bystander program also has been acknowledged by the Obama administration. It calls for students to watch for behavior such as dirty jokes or sexual comments that could lead to violence.
