Whispering Walls & Soaring Pines: A Heritage Hike
Whispering Walls & Soaring Pines: A Heritage Hike
Come explore some of the trails of Sheldrick Forest’s 227-acre Nature Conservancy property in Wilton. Experience and learn about the old-growth stands of white pines that soar over 150 feet and see where hardwoods have stood for centuries. We will discover the purpose of the stone walls throughout the area, follow an abandoned road, and learn the story of how this site became preserved. If we are lucky, we may find evidence of bears, deer, moose, hawks, eagles, and even snow fleas! Author, steward, and outdoor enthusiast, Nikki Andrews will be our host, along with Myrilla Harkopf of The Nature Conservancy.
Part of Wilton's week long celebration of America's 250th Anniversary, May 2-10
Please leave dogs at home for this hike, as the site does not permit them.
