Four Motorcyclists Die In One Day

With Laconia Bike Weekunderway four motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes Friday including one in the North Country, according to news releases from the state police.

The latest occurred about 4:15 on the Everett Turnpike near Exit 8 in Nashua. Police said Michael Loverme, 24, of Merrimack, lost control of his motorcycle, crashed and died of “severe trauma.” The accident in the North Country occurred on Route 16 near Dummer Pond Road about 3:15 p.m.

Police said Ashley Bailey, 25, of Jay, Maine was driving northbound when her Hyundai Elantra apparently crossed into the southbound lane.

It collided with a motorcycle operated by 60-year-old Thomas Zapulla, of Torrington, Conn., who died at the scene.

Ms. Bailey was taken to the hospital in Berlin with serious injuries. One of her three passengers received minor injuries.

The second death occurred about 20 minutes earlier on Rollercoaster Road near Weirs Beach.

Police said a pick-up truck driven by Craig Harrison, 47, of Manchester, apparently crossed the center line and collided with a motorcycle operated by 38-year-old Jamie Bezanson of Concord.

Bezanson died at the scene. Harrison received minor injuries.

The third death took place in the town of Nelson about 12:30 p.m. on Route 9.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Honda Civic being driven by James Rivadeneira of Salem, N.H. apparently crossed the center line and collided with a motorcycle operated by David Davis of Wynantskill, New York.

Then, another motorcycle operated by Carl Davino of Stuyvesant, New York, struck Davis’ motorcycle.

Davis died later in the day of his injuries. Rivadeneira and Davino suffered minor injuries.
