During Swing Through N.H., Biden Touts New Climate Change Policies

Todd Bookman/NHPR

Presidential candidate Joe Biden used a swing through New Hampshire Tuesday to highlight his new proposal to combat climate change. The former Vice President is embracing what he calls the frameworks of the Green New Deal, including a $1.7 trillion federal investment in climate related policies.

Biden’s plan sets a target of zero net emissions by 2050, and pledges to rejoin the United States to the landmark Paris Agreements on his first day in office.

“I mean this is within our wheelhouse to be able to do this. This is not beyond our capacity,” said Biden during a campaign event in Concord.

Earlier in the day, the Democrat travelled to Berlin and Plymouth, where he visited the Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative.

During his speech inside the IBEW facility in Concord, Biden reminded the crowd that he first began working on climate-related issues in 1986 when he served as a senator from Delaware.

As a general assignment reporter, I pursue breaking news as well as investigative pieces across a range of topics. I’m drawn to stories that are big and timely, as well as those that may appear small but tell us something larger about the state we live in. I also love a good tip, a good character, or a story that involves a boat ride.
