The Department of Veterans Affairs says the quality of service at the Manchester VA Medical Center has improved in the past year.

In a report released Thursday, the VA's internal annual rating system shows that the Manchester VA now has three stars out of five.

It dropped from four stars to two shortly after whistleblowers came forward in July of last year with allegations of mismanaged care. Last week, a VA report detailed investigators' failure to substantiate those allegations.

The star ratings are not meant to be objective measures of quality. They measure year over year improvement.

This report indicates that patient experience and employee satisfaction at the Manchester VA have improved.

Medical Center director Al Montoya says the Manchester VA is quote "marching towards five."
