Race for the 1st: Pappas Next Up In NHPR Candidate Series
Can Democrats hold onto the New Hampshire congressional seat known as the "swingiest" district? Can a Republican claim it during a mid-term election year?
All eyes are trained on the 1st Congressional District as the candidates on both sides of the aisle jockey for position and any available media attention. To help identify those in this crowded field, NHPR continues its series, "Race for the 1st," with the candidates invited on The Exchange with Laura Knoy for a 20-minute segment.
Five hopefuls have already appeared. Six more are scheduled, with Chris Pappas, a Democrat from Manchester, being the next interview.
Here is the latest on-air schedule for the candidates (start times: 9:40 a.m.):
- June 4: Chris Pappas
- June 11: Maura Sullivan
- June 18: Andy Sanborn
- June 21: Naomi Andrews
- June 25: Eddie Edwards
- July 2: Bruce Crochetiere
The candidate filing period for the state primary opens Wednesday, June 6. It closes June 15.
The 1st District is an open seat in 2018 because U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, a four-term Democrat from Rochester, is not running for re-election.
