Sununu Hires New Drug Policy Advisor With Focus on Recovery

FACEBOOK
Marty Boldin is a Dean's Fellow and PhD Candidate at the Boston University's School of Social Work.

Governor Chris Sununu has created a new position in his office to help shape drug prevention, treatment and recovery policy.

Sununu has tapped Marty Boldin for the new role. Boldin is in long-term recovery himself and has a background in substance abuse treatment and prevention, including serving on the Governor’s Commission on drugs and alcohol and chairing its recovery task force.

Boldin will work alongside the state’s so-called “drug czar” by visiting communities, talking to stakeholders and relaying those ideas back to the Governor. Unlike the current “drug czar” – James Vara – Boldin’s main focus will be on recovery, particularly long-term recovery.

Sununu says this position will help “ bring a renewed emphasis on recovery programs” and ensure state dollars are getting out quickly and effectively.

This position will be full-time and pays $95,000 a year. Boldin starts on Monday.
