N.H. Will Get $3.1 Million In AmeriCorps Funding

New Hampshire is getting $3.1 million in funding for the AmeriCorps public service program to support 169 members in the state.

The grants also will create additional funding for Volunteer NH, a nonprofit that administers AmeriCorps in New Hampshire. The federal investment is projected to generate an additional $2.7 million in local support.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced the funding Tuesday.

Members are assisting six public schools in Manchester; providing conservation stewardship to public lands and environmental education; helping domestic and sexual violence victims; and mentoring students.
