The famous resort has been closed since early fall.

Planners have accepted the application of a proposed redevelopment project at a historic resort in New Hampshire.

The Caledonian Record reports that Coos County planners accepted the application for redevelopment at The Balsams in Dixville Notch and recently voted to recommend related zoning amendments that would pave the way for other development in the region.

The proposed zoning amendments reviewed at last week's hearing included one to create a new resort district in the area of the former Balsams Grand Resort and surrounding recreation areas. That would encourage further development.

The planners unanimously approved the zoning ordinance amendments and sent them to the Coos County Commission and Delegation for review.

The next hearing on The Balsams has been scheduled for Nov. 11 in Colebrook.
