Gov. Hassan Says Trade Mission To Turkey Has Been 'Productive'

Today's Zaman

Governor Maggie Hassan is in the midst of a week-long trade mission to Turkey.

During a conference call this morning, Hassan called the trip productive.

“We are on this trade mission to emphasize to the Turkish people and Turkish businesses how much New Hampshire values international trade and how important is to our economic growth and job creation.”

Joining Hassan on the trip are the state’s commissioner of economic development Jeff Rose and representatives from seven New Hampshire businesses.

She says they’ve been able to meet with some of Turkey’s largest business organizations and connect New Hampshire businesses with potential long-term trade partners.

Turkey is already New Hampshire’s 12th-largest trading partner.

The trade mission will cost roughly $15,000 in state money, a figure Hassan’s Republican gubernatorial opponents have criticized.

Hassan’s office says the trip was paid for before she ordered a spending freeze last month.

The group will return to New Hampshire on Friday.
