Updated Power Outage Information: (Oct. 31, 5:40 p.m.)

Total: 42,586

Clean up has commenced after the edge of Hurricane Sandy swept over the Granite State, depositing 1-3 inches of rain, and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of New Hampshire residents. The power outages peaked last night sometime between 10:30 pm and 1:00 am the next morning. They fell somewhat in the early morning hours, before rising again as morning pressed on and loose tree branches were dislodged and fell on utility lines.

The utilities are estimating that the clean up will be a multi-day affair. But the Public Utilities Commission says that power will be restored to all households by the end of the week.
