Attorney General's Office Investigates Hepatitis C Outbreak

The Attorney General’s Office will investigate the hepatitis C outbreak at Exeter Hospital.

Attorney General Michael Delaney says that his office will examine the circumstances around how at least 20 people have become infected at the hospital.

The Attorney General’s Office is working with the Exeter Police Department and State Police to determine whether any laws have been broken.

More than 700 samples have been tested from individuals associated with the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab. So far 20 cases of hepatitis C have matched the original virus.

The state Department of Health and Human Services will host a public meeting in the Exeter High School auditorium Friday at 6 pm to field questions about the investigation and outbreak.

Speakers will include state Director of Public Health, José Montero, State Epidemiologist, Sharon Alroy-Preis, and Deputy State Epidemiologist, Jodie Dionne-Odom.
