What do a secure tent, a sturdy boat line, and a lifesaving rescue all have in common? Knots! Join the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) on Saturday, April 25 for a hands-on program where we’ll practice the age-old tradition of knots! We will hold this event from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the SLA building. We’ll start with the basics, learning both how to tie a knot and its many functions, and after practicing, we’ll put our new skills to the test. Working as a team, we’ll design and build a functional tarp shelter, using our knots to create a structure that’s both strong and adaptable. You’ll leave with practical knowledge, hands-on experience, and a set of knots you can use in your own outdoor adventures.Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) AmeriCorps member, Macie Kane, will lead the program.
All materials will be provided, all we ask is that you bring your enthusiasm to learn. Participants are encouraged to bring water and snacks. This program is for ages 12 and up, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
