Free Film Screening: Invisible Imprints

Free Film Screening: Invisible Imprints

On September 10th at 6 PM, the Arts Council of Tamworth will host a free film screening of the documentary INVISIBLE IMPRINTS , held at the Cook Memorial Library.

This feature-length documentary follows the dancers from beheard.world as they travel from Jackson, MS up the Great Migration Trail to Chicago, performing an original piece called Invisible Imprints of Racism. At each showing they facilitate talkbacks with audiences, exploring and confronting issues of race. As these dramatic experiences unfold on the tour, the film captures the performers’ own struggles with identity and race, shedding light on the deeper truths of racial divisions from diverse perspectives.

A Q&A with beheard.world will be held after the screening.

Later in the week, on September 14th at 7 PM at the Public House on Page Hill Pavilion, the Arts Council of Tamworth will be hosting a staging of beheard.world's exciting new stage production, BELONGING & OTHERING. This production features a collaboration of nine dancers/choreographers, three poets and two filmmakers who have created a piece where “belonging” and “othering” intersect, opening a window into underlying parts of tribalism and bias that keep us divided.
