State Unemployment Rate Decreases Slightly

The unemployment rate in New Hampshire went down slightly last month, according to a preliminary report from the state.

The state's unemployment rate for March decreased to 5.7 percent last month from February’s 5.8 percent, according to economist Annette Nielsen at NH Employment Security:

It’s been pretty stable over the last few months so just a little in the right direction – is good!

Nielsen says these numbers – which have been adjusted to account for seasonal labor changes – are especially good news because the trend in NH this year has been in the other direction. As more people in the state seek employment after retiring, going to school, or terminal unemployment, the unemployment rate has –over all – been increasing.
