Computers Like Music

Digital musicologists around the world are using computers to analyze music in ways humans can’t.  Turning beautiful melodies into cold hard numbers has given us insight into how music works, why we like it, and what it says about our culture as a whole. Leon Neyfakhis a staff writer for the ideas section of the Boston Globe, where he asked the question, “when computers listen to music, what do they hear?”And he joins us now to tell us what he found out.
