The Exchange In-Depth: Exploring Education

The Exchange is hitting the books just in time for school, with a series on K-12 education airing Mondays from July 29 to Aug. 19.

The Exchange team asked listeners to vote on topics related to K-12 education that have not been explored in depth—with four shows chosen based on listener response. Each episode takes a granular examination of the state’s education at the classroom level.

Full episode guide:

Financial Literacy, airing July 29

Courses in financial literacy have fallen away from traditional curriculums. What role can, and should, schools play in helping kids achieve financial literacy?

Learning Disabilities, airing Aug. 5

A look at the latest research around learning disabilities—what challenges do educators and students face in the classroom, and how are classrooms evolving?

Training Teachers, airing Aug. 12

A teacher’s role in the classroom is ever evolving. How are we training teachers today and how have modes of preparation and skills changed over time?

Learn Everywhere, airing Aug. 19

This new program approved by the Board of Education has earned both praise and criticism. The program allows opportunities for students to earn class credit outside the classroom—but questions about how it would work remain.

The Exchange is New Hampshire’s only locally produced, statewide call-in talk show. The program airs live from 9 to 10 a.m. on NHPR Monday to Friday, and is rebroadcast from 7 to 8 p.m. weekday evenings.
