A prosecutor asked jurors to reject the efforts of a 31-year-old man charged with raping and killing a University of New Hampshire student to evade responsibility for his actions.
Prosecutor Geoffrey Ward in final arguments Wednesday told jurors to see through Seth Mazzaglia's lies, cover-ups and manipulations and find him guilty of killing 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott of Westborough, Massachusetts.
Mazzaglia's lawyers earlier in the day argued that his former girlfriend, 20-year-old Kathryn McDonough, killed Marriott during rough sex involving restraints then shifted the blame to Mazzaglia once she was granted immunity from prosecution.
Jurors will begin deliberating the case Thursday, after hearing 19 days of testimony.
McDonough, the prosecution's star witness, is already serving a 1-1/2 to 3-year sentence for hindering the prosecution, conspiracy and witness tampering.
