Sunapee Man Accused Of Killing Two In I-89 Crash Now Facing Murder Charges

The Sunapee man accused of killing two people in a car accident on I-89 in Lebanon earlier this month is now facing two counts of second-degree murder.

Robert Dellinger, 53, had already been arraigned on two counts of manslaughter in connection with the Dec. 7 accident that killed Amanda Murphy and Jason Timmons of Vermont.

Murphy was eight months pregnant. The couple's child was also killed in the accident.

Attorney General Joseph Foster announced the upgraded charges Friday afternoon.

Prosecutors say Dellinger was trying to commit suicide when he caused the accident. He had left his home after having an argument with his wife, prosecutors said.

Dellinger was arrested Friday on the new charges at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

He's scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
