Sound Of Your City: Trains

(SOUNDBITE OF A TRAIN)

AUDIE CORNISH, HOST:

Form New York's C-train to L.A.'s Gold Line. When we asked you to send us the sound of your city, the first thing many of you thought of was another form of transportation.

(SOUNDBITE OF TRAINS)

JOHN MYERS: My name is John Myers and the sound of Philadelphia is the Market Frankfurt line.

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: Doors are opening.

STEPHANIE FU: My name is Stephanie Fu, the sound of San Francisco is the BART train.

(SOUNDBITE OF TRAINS)

STEVE SALTOVAR(PH): My name is Steve Saltovar. The sound of Los Angeles is the Metro Gold line train stopping at Mariachi Plaza Station.

(SOUNDBITE OF TRAINS)

UNIDENTIFIED MAN: This is Mariachi Plaza Station.

CORNISH: Sounds from our audience. Send us pictures, too. We want to see what you think is the heart of your city - Union Station, ice cream shop. What's your favorite spot, the place you want your out of town visitors to see? Go to NPR.org/nprcities to see what others have sent and to contribute. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
