About the Show
Something Rotten! Junior is a fast-paced, family-friendly adaptation of the Broadway smash hit Something Rotten! Set in the Renaissance, the show follows the hilarious misadventures of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two struggling playwrights desperate to make a name for themselves in the shadow of the wildly popular William Shakespeare.

When a soothsayer predicts that the future of theater involves singing, dancing, and acting-all at the same time, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world's very first musical. What follows is a whirlwind of mistaken identity, over-the-top musical numbers, and witty references that will delight theater lovers young and old.

With a clever book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick, Something Rotten! Junior brings all the magic, satire, and toe-tapping tunes of the original Broadway show in a condensed and accessible format perfect for youth performers.

A Celebration of Young, Local Talent

This production showcases the incredible energy, enthusiasm, and talent of 37 local youth performers ages 8-17, as part of the Concord Community Players Children's Theatre Project - a beloved community initiative that fosters creativity, confidence, and collaboration in young artists. The CTP is celebrating its' 30th year of children's theatre with this sure to be memorable musical.

Director Karen Braz, a longtime champion of youth theater in the region, brings her signature flair and heart to this joyful and irreverent musical. "Something Rotten! Junior is a show that celebrates the messy, magical process of making theater," says Braz. "It's been an absolute joy watching our cast bring it to life with so much passion and humor."

Don't miss this chance to support local youth, enjoy this escape into musical comedy, and be a part of the vibrant Concord arts scene.
