Let's Go Orienteering at the Broken Ground in Concord

Let's Go Orienteering at the Broken Ground in Concord

The Up North Orienteers invite the public to come try orienteering at the Broken Ground in Concord on Saturday, April 25th.

Spring has finally arrived and there is no better way time to enjoy its return that to get outside and try the sport of orienteering. Orienteering is an easy to learn sport that involves navigating between points using a map and compass. Think of it as treasure hunting in the park if you like. Orienteering is appropriate for people of all ages and athletic abilities. You can participate individually or with friends and family.

Participants may register and start any time between 10 AM and 1 PM. Experienced orienteers will be on hand at the Broken Ground to help newcomers learn the basics and get started on their first course. Numerous courses of different distances and navigational challenges will be offered – something for everyone! There will even be a 5K trail running course with orienteering markers along the way to introduce runners and trail racers to the sport while they get a workout, too.

Additional information, including directions to the parking and assembly areas, may be found at the Up North Orienteers web site, https://upnoor.org/event/broken-ground-concord/ . Questions may be sent to the event organizer, Jim Arsenault, at jearsenault@gmail.com .
