Backyard Winter Bird Survey Webinar

Backyard Winter Bird Survey Webinar

Learn More About the Backyard Winter Bird Survey!

Get ready to count your birds and join NH Audubon for a fun, informative webinar on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM. The Backyard Winter Bird Survey is a statewide participatory science project that helps track winter bird populations and long-term trends across New Hampshire—and you can take part right from your own backyard. This year will be the 39th year of the project. The Backyard Winter Bird Survey will be held Valentine’s Day weekend (February 14 & 15). This webinar will help you get ready to make your birds count!

In this webinar, you’ll:

-Learn what the Backyard Winter Bird Survey is and how your observations help scientists understand changes in winter bird populations.

-Learn how to participate, from observing birds at your feeder to submitting your data.

-Master the identification of commonly confused winter bird species.

-Explore what 35+ years of survey data reveal about winter bird trends in New Hampshire.

-Get tips for reporting your birds using our new online survey form.

Whether you’re a novice or an experienced birder, this webinar will give you the skills and confidence to contribute valuable data to this long-running project. If you can’t attend live, a recording will be available afterward. Note: you do not need to attend the webinar to participate in the survey.
