Renowned Activist & Writer Kevin Powell Comes to New Hampshire for Exclusive Film Screening and Community Dialogue
Manchester, NH – May 15, 2025 – The New Hampshire Black Women Health Project (NHBWHP) is proud to present an exclusive film screening and community conversation featuring acclaimed activist, writer, and filmmaker Kevin Powell, co-director of the powerful new documentary When We Free the World.
Scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the YWCA New Hampshire (72 Concord St., Manchester, NH), this evening's event will host a feature-length indie documentary that explores the complexities of manhood in America, presenting the perspectives of Black men aged from their teens to their 90s. Manhood is a topic that resonates in communities across the United States.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., and the screening will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This will be followed by a Q&A session and an opportunity to meet the filmmakers.
Joining Powell is co-producer and co-writer Evangeline Lawson, a creative force in documentary storytelling focused on equity, gender, and community.
This compelling documentary event is more than just a screening, it's a call to action. Powell, known for his work on race, gender, democracy, and social justice, will engage the audience in a conversation that challenges stereotypes and promotes healing and understanding.
