Former Maine Democratic Sen. George Mitchell served two presidents in diplomatic roles overseas. He helped negotiate the Good Friday Accord that brought lasting peace to Northern Ireland during the Clinton administration, and was President Obama’s special envoy to the Middle East.

His memoir, “The Negotiator: Reflections on an American Life,” has just been released in paperback. Here & Now revisits its conversation with Mitchell from 2015.
