Fadiman Obit

He was a critic, editor and anthlogist, who also hosted a popular radio program of the 1930s and 40s called "Information Please." One of his passions was reading. He was said to have begun at age 4. In later life he collected children's short stories in anthologies. He encouraged adults to read children's stories as literature and in doing so relive their view of the world when they were young. Robert talks to author John Dunning about "Information Please," which posed listener questions to a panel of notables, in an attempt to stump them. Dunning says the program was an intellectual quiz show, advanced for its time. Dunning is author of On The Air: An Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio.
