  • As a general assignment reporter, I cover a little bit of everything. I’ve interviewed senators and second graders alike. I particularly enjoy reporting on stories that exist at the intersection of more narrowly defined beats, such as the health impact on children of changing school meals policies, or how regulatory changes at the Public Utilities Commissions affect older people on fixed incomes.
  • I am an editor in NHPR’s newsroom, overseeing our coverage of health, youth & education. I have a passion for stories that help connect, inform, and empower people to be active participants in their community. I am interested in systems of power, and the space between how a policy is written and what it looks like in practice. I love audio journalism because it reaches people where they are: in their car, their kitchen, or outside shoveling snow. You can reach me with your curiosities, questions, and ideas at cphillips@nhpr.org.
  • Sasha Ingber is a reporter on NPR's breaking news desk, where she covers national and international affairs of the day.

Away from the broadcast booth, Steve is an avid reader and movie fanatic.
