Starting Thursday, New Hampshire parents and guardians can register their 12- to 15-year-old children for the COVID-19 vaccine on the state's website.
The move follows an FDA authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for that age group earlier this week, and a recommendation from the CDC.
Anyone under 18 needs to have consent from a parent or guardian to be vaccinated. That can be verbal consent at the time of vaccination, or it can be given electronically through a signed consent form during registration.
The state says there are plenty of appointments available, and some vaccination clinics have same day appointments.
Despite a fear of needles, 14-year-old Noa Mash of Newmarket says they are looking forward to being vaccinated.
Mash is excited for sleep-overs with friends, eating indoors at restaurants, and an end to remote learning.
"Once I get to school, back in person, in the fall when I’m all fully vaccinated, my grades are going to get a lot better, because it’s been affecting me a lot this year,” they said.
Mash’s mom is high risk for COVID-19, and the two say the vaccine has brought the family a lot of relief.
