NHPR Offering Live N.H. Primary Night Coverage To Member Stations

Allegra Boverman for NHPR

New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is offering live coverage of the First in the Nation New Hampshire Primary on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020.

NHPR’s coverage will begin at 8 PM eastern and will run no later than 12MID eastern. If a winner is declared early in the evening, NHPR may choose to end coverage at 11 PM. Stations will be alerted through the night about broadcast plans as news develops.

NHPR's Laura Knoy will anchor our live primary night broadcast.

PROGRAM DETAILS:

Special coverage will be hosted by Laura Knoy, nationally-recognized host of NHPR’s flagship talk show “The Exchange.” Laura has extensive knowledge of the primary, and has hosted a series of live forums with the 2020 presidential candidates.

Laura will be joined in the studio for analysis by NHPR Investigative & Data Reporter/Editor Casey McDermott and Dante Scala, a long-time Political Science Professor at the University of New Hampshire, and frequent guest analyst on national radio and television news programs.

NHPR’s award-winning news team will be reporting live from candidates’ headquarters throughout the state. Laura and her panel will track town-by-town results as they come in, and bring you live coverage of speeches from the leading candidates.

FORMAT:

NHPR coverage will follow the NPR Special Programming Clock with sixty-second cutaways at 19:00, 39:00 and 59:00 each hour. However, if there is an important speech happening during a scheduled break, NHPR will break format and keep the speech on the air.

If a speech is happening at the top of the hour, NHPR will offer stations a cutaway at 59:00 each hour. Stations are encouraged to subscribe to the NPR Protected Newscasts during the coverage if they wish to take the top hour NPR Newscast without interruption. It is strongly recommended that stations do not automate the program.
