FRIENDS IN COUNCIL CANDY FUND RAISER BENEFITS LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, LISBON
February 13 and February 14 noon to 6 PM. The Friends In Council of Lisbon is having their annual Valentine's Day Candy Sale at the Woodsville Guaranty Bank, Lisbon, NH and at Du Ez In and Out, Lisbon, NH. These are homemade candies and each box sells for $8.00 and contains some cream fillings, as well as peanut butter and peanut clusters. Friends in Council is part of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The candy sale is their main fund raiser of the year. Money raised is donated locally and past recipients have included Lisbon schools, Lisbon Girl Scouts, individual student projects for 4H or grange or volunteer service abroad, Main Street concerts and other activities, Lisbon Lions, Lisbon Area Historical Society and much more.

Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust's forest is being harvested now by using horses and conventional skidders to drag trees out of the forest. Forester Jeff Smith and logger Bruce Street will discuss goals of the timber harvest and how horses and machinery are used to benefit the forest. Free and open to all. Two Tony-winning theater troupes, New York’s The Acting Company and The Guthrie Theater from Minneapolis, have teamed up to perform Shakspeare’s enduring play. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatizes the revenge Prince Hamlet exacts on his uncle Claudius for murdering King Hamlet, Claudius's brother and Prince Hamlet's father, and then succeeding to the throne and taking as his wife Gertrude, the old king's widow and Prince Hamlet's mother. The play vividly portrays both true and feigned madness – from overwhelming grief to seething rage – and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption. DONATE BOOKS TO PROMOTE GLOBAL LITERACY, BATH
The Bath Public Library is working with the World Wide Books Organization to use discarded books to promote global literacy. They have donated nearly 3,000,000 books globally since its inception in 2005. By promoting global literacy, you can provide more educational and work opportunities for families, reducing global waste, recycling natural resources and creating jobs for disabled adults. Please donate your used books (sorry, no magazines) to the Bath Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-5 or the Curt ‘n Rod Centre, Rte. 302, Landaff, Thursday through Monday 10-5.
