Former N.H. Trooper Charged With Assaulting Chase Suspect to Plead Guilty

A former New Hampshire state trooper accused of assaulting a suspect following a high-speed chase will plead guilty this week.

The attorney general’s office announced Tuesday morning that Trooper Andrew Monaco will enter guilty pleas to three counts of simple assault in Nashua District Court Thursday.

The charges stem from a May incident in which Monaco is accused of repeatedly punching a Massachusetts man who had surrendered to police once the chase ended in Nashua.

News helicopters captured footage of the incident.

The attorney general’s office did not release any other information about the terms of the plea deal.

Trooper Joseph Flynn of the Massachusetts State Police was also charged with assault.

Both troopers were placed on leave following the incident.
