Inspired By the Brexit, Granite State Group Pushes #NHExit

Taking a cue from Great Britain's recent historic vote to leave the European Union, a group of New Hampshire residents are now advocating for their state's own independence.

The Concord Monitor reports 13 members of the "NHexit" movement gathered Sunday in front of the Norris Cotton Federal Building in Manchester to push their agenda of breaking away from the United States. The movement is named after the Brexit, or "Britain Exit" campaign.

NHexit founder and organizer Dave Ridley says his goal is to use Britain's exit from the EU to bring attention to issues he sees with the federal government, such as high taxes.

Ridley says the U.S. government has been so far corrupted that the values of New Hampshire and the country no longer align.
