N.H. State Police Team To Assist N.J. Disaster Relief Efforts

The damage left in the wake of super-storm Sandy has New Jersey scrambling to recover. New Hampshire State Police are sending a 12-member team to help with the clean-up efforts in New Jersey.11 troopers led by Major Russell Conte will be arriving Saturday night at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Conte says, they’ll help out law enforcement and in any other way they can.

“There’s still quite a few people without power. Well over a million. They’ve had some pretty devastated areas with flooding and other issues. So just to keep order and just to help out, I’m sure the personnel down there are pretty worn out by now.”

The snowy weather earlier this week stalled the recovery process and made repairs even more difficult.

Each of New Hampshire troopers going to New Jersey were selected among several more who volunteered.

To help victims of Sandy, donations to the American Red Cross can be made by visiting Red Cross disaster relief, or you can text REDCROSS, one word, to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
