UNH Vocal Arts Project presents INFLUENTIAL: Pauline Viardot's lasting impact.
Join us and explore Pauline Viardot's spheres of influence on vocal performance and composition in the 19th century and today. From a famous musical family, Viardot was a mezzo muse to many tastemakers of her day, including Brahms, Berlioz, Bizet, Chopin, Schumann, Fauré, Sand, Gounod, Turgenev and Schumann. Her pan-European influences combined to create a vibrant, influential salon that was the place to be for aspiring singers, pianists and composers. So, we can hear echoes of her musical style both in her contemporaries’ writing and in today's vocal music. Come join us to experience a taste of Viardot’s world!
