Piano Quartets by Mozart, Beethoven, & Strauss

Piano Quartets by Mozart, Beethoven, & Strauss

Experience an enchanting afternoon of live chamber music for piano and strings in the breathtaking, relaxed surroundings of Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole.

Richard Strauss is best known as one of the last of the Great Romantic Composers. His musical language became increasingly complex and chromatic in later life when he focused his efforts almost exclusively on orchestral works and opera. However, as a young man Strauss was raised on a strict musical diet of Classical masterworks by a very conservative musical Father. Early in his career, Strauss turned to chamber music and this program celebrates the influence of Mozart and Beethoven in Strauss’s gigantic Piano Quartet.

• Beethoven Piano Quartet in C major, WoO 36, No.3
