Please join us June 6 for an evening with visual artist Sama Alshaibi.

On Friday evening, Sama Alshaibi’s presentation will show how displacement, aftermath, and fragmented memory shape her visual practice across photography, video, and installation. Drawing from photographs and videos of deserts, borderlands, and post-conflict cities, Alshaibi explores how landscapes and bodies become sites where histories are both buried and reimagined.

Through layered images and experimental techniques, her work engages with questions of survival, perception, and the stories we tell to make sense of disrupted time and space. The audience will be invited into a conversation about the role of the image in witnessing loss and imagining continuity, and how art can trace what remains even after so much has been erased.
